Wellbeing workshops to help people through lockdown

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Feb 9, 2021

A new series of free workshops hosted by Arnolfini will focus on art and wellbeing.

Four young creatives from Rising Arts Agency will be sharing their creative wellbeing practices and encouraging people to join in to help them get through lockdown.

A Map Made By Stitching: In this workshop, hosted by multidisciplinary artist Anna Rathbone, participants will create a collective map of routes they take around their home, using embroidery and stitching.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

There are 30 spaces and each participant will receive a free art pack with all of the materials needed.

Art and Acceptance: Lucy Turner is offering a workshop that explores trauma through poetry, words and art.

She explains: “I began using art as a way to heal from trauma after I was diagnosed with cancer. I view art as a storytelling medium and I’ve used it when I didn’t have any other ways to communicate. Most of my inspiration for art, writing and general life is Black women.”

Connecting past and present: If you’re struggling to feel anchored, take some time out to join Yasmin Qureshi’s workshop that focuses on places of connection. Using a pen and paper you will reflect on how to disengage from current challenges and focus on things you can control and feel rooted to.

A Love Letter To My Limbs: In this workshop led by Amber- Ruth Watson, participants will be guided in writing a love letter written to a body part they feel they want to rebuild your relationship with. The independent session will be guided by audio and visuals, which will guide the healing process.

The workshops will be available online until 30 May

All activities will be made available from February 12 and will be online through to May 30.
