Bristol ready for Independent Bookshop Week 2024
As a city brimming with indie booksellers, every day is a good day to explore your local bookshop.
But with the imminent return of Independent Bookshop Week (IBW), which runs from June 15-22, the indies across Bristol are gearing up to put themselves firmly on the map with a new audience of local readers.
From Storysmith Books in Southville to Gloucester Road Books; Max Minerva’s in Henleaze and Portishead to the central city second-hand bookshop, Dreadnought Books, you are never far away from a treasure trove of contented browsing.
is needed now More than ever
Special events taking place as part of this year’s IBW include The Small City Bookshop and others partnering with the Children’s Book Project charity by championing a book drive across Bristol. They will be welcoming donations of children’s books in good condition, for distribution amongst baby banks, the care system and local schools.
Bookhaus will be twinning with Prototype Publishing for the week, and hosting a book launch event with Sulaiman Addionia and his new novel The Seers.
Heron Books, tucked away in The Clifton Arcade, will also be twinning – joining together with And Other Stories in Sheffield to host an events programme including live poetry from Ralf Webb, a short fiction book group discussion of Deborah Levy’s Black Vodka, and the announcement of their Flash Fiction Competition winner.
