Gloucester Road Books to host cookbook event from 2021 Masterchef finalist
The popular indie bookshop Gloucester Road Books holds regular literary events at its store or, often, at larger local venues to reflect demand.
On November 21 at Boston Tea Party on Gloucester Road, it will be hosting an interview, Q&A and signing event with a difference: Masterchef 2021 finalist Alexina Anatole will be presenting her new cookbook, Bitter.
How well do you really understand bitterness? Often thought of as an acquired taste, bitter flavours add complexity and depth to a dish – making food incredibly moreish – if, you know how to work with them.
is needed now More than ever

In the book, which has garnered acclaim from Jay Rayner, Rukmini Iyer and Nigella Lawson among others, Anatole shares 80 recipes for savoury and sweet dishes that exhibit bitterness “to elevate the taste in everything you make”.
From seared salmon tacos with grapefruit and avocado to winter citrus fruit salad; jerk pork belly with grapefruit hot sauce to negroni pavlova, there is something to delight all culinary enthusiasts.

On the night, Anatole will be in conversation with Bristol culinary star Elly Curshen, better known as Elly Pear, the Sunday Times bestselling cookery author, food columnist, and founder of The Pear Café (2006-2018).
There will be samples of a recipe from the book to taste, too.
