New crime thriller set in fictional Clifton cafe
The latest crime thriller from a Bristol author is set in a fictional Clifton coffee shop.
Flat White Lies by AA Abbott is her tenth novel and second story set in her home city, following whodunnit Lies at Her Door which drew inspiration from the Canynge Square sinkhole.
Flat White Lies follows Jenna as she struggles to keep her cafe from going under. “But when a local woman is found drowned in the canal, Jenna’s suspicions turn to her mysterious tenant and the dark secrets he’s been hiding.”

Abbott, who lives in Clifton, said: “I’m fascinated by how one decision can change the whole course of our lives, and I wanted to explore that with the character of Jenna, and how her decision to start the business of her dreams plunges her into a nightmare.
“Bristol was a natural choice for me in terms of location. It’s a fascinating city and one which has really sparked my creativity.
“It’s filled with so many lively, beautiful locations, so it’s been a lot of fun creating a plot that envisions the dark underbelly lurking beneath them.”
