New guidebook set to explore Bristol’s hidden corners

By Bristol24/7  Friday Apr 17, 2020

111 Places in Bristol That You Shouldn’t Miss will be a guidebook featuring places not usually found in guidebooks.

Written by Martin Booth with photographs by Barbara Evripidou, the book will focus on places off the beaten track.

Hidden statues, secret gardens, bridges (no, not that one) and much more will feature among the chapters, with each write-up accompanied by a full-page photograph.

Martin, the Editor of Bristol24/7, lives in the city centre with his wife, Joanna, and their two children, Mersina and Lois, who both go to Hotwells Primary School.

He was born in Bristol and first worked with Barbara when they were colleagues at the Bristol Evening Post.

“I hope that even people who have lived here their whole life will be able to learn something new from this book,” said Martin.

“There are so many fascinating corners of Bristol that are not widely known about, from the neolithic era up to the present.

“You might have walked by the same place every day without knowing the amazing stories behind it and I hope that this book – with fantastic photos by the brilliant Barbara – will shine a new light on our city.”
