SPARKS Bristol to host Festival of Stories
Bringing together local storytellers and poets together, SPARKS Bristol will be hosting the inaugural Festival of Stories on March 9.
Created by Charlie Keenan of Kooky Book Craft, the one-day event will feature readings from local storytellers and award-winning indie authors, workshops in zine making, bookbinding and publishing, crafting, Stories Behind Bars, tarot reading, clowning, traders, and special deals and discounts.
With the festival coming hot on the heels of World Book Day, visitors will once more be encouraged to don fancy dress and emulate the characters from their favourite stories.
is needed now More than ever
“The idea came from a place of wanting to provide a space for local indie authors to promote and share their talents,” says Keenan, “as well as for local creatives to engage people of all ages with book-related content.
“It was also about creating a community of like- minded individuals that feeds inspiration and provides support.
“For me, stories are a way to switch off from any stress or negativity. They provide a safe space to get lost in and they feed imagination and creativity. There really is nothing like reading a good book on a rainy day with a cup of coffee and a cat on your lap. It simply makes me feel better.”
