Circus City survey appeals to D/deaf individuals
Produced by Handstand Arts, the biennial contemporary circus festival Circus City is a bold and eclectic two-week programme that celebrates Bristol’s position as a UK leader within the sector.
Beyond its landmark event, over the current five-year period from 2024-29, the stated goal is to develop the Circus City offer to encompass a “year-round programme” that is “integrated into the community” and “accessible to all”.
With a commitment to accessibility in mind, the organisation has been granted funding from The Nisbet Trust and the Postcode Lottery to work with the Centre for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, with the aim of ensuring that Circus City 2025 is a D/deaf Friendly Festival.

“In order to do this we need to understand what this means to individuals who identify as D/deaf and hard of hearing,” say Circus City, who are have created an anonymous survey to help gather this information.
“We are particularly keen to hear from those who live in or often visit Bristol but all feedback is welcome.”
As a thank you to those completing the survey, respondents will be given the chance to enter into a competition to win a limited-edition festival t-shirt and £20 online gift voucher.
The survey is accessible here until the closing date of December 31.
