Boomtown’s Area 404 announce two new May shows

By Georgia Marsh  Tuesday Mar 10, 2020

May gears Boomtown up for not one but two immersive theatrical spectaculars at their wildly successful Bristol nightclub Area 404. The conceptual venue will be throwing two all-new parties under the theme of Escape 404! on Saturday, May 2 and the Bank Holiday Thursday, May 7.

Much like their other parties, Escape 404! invites visitors to explore Area 404’s universe – an abandoned nuclear wasteland – and uncover mysteries concealed by the murky depths of the venue’s landscape, complete with roaming actors, mind-blowing set design and interactive gameplay.

Musically, the two nights cater to different tastes, with the former focused on drum and bass and all its incarnations, whereas the latter is tailored more towards garage and bass.

Saturday, May 2 sees a headline slot from the legendary DJ and broadcaster David Rodigan – who debuted at Area 404 on their decadent New Year’s Eve party – and a sure-to-be-knockout performance from Congo Natty. The Bug are billed for a live set and Randall, Om Unit, DJ Paypal, Gardna, Dub Boy and more can also be found lost in Area 404’s dystopian wilderness.

Returning for a second instalment the following week, bass-driven garage takes the reins on Thursday, May 7 with the inimitable Lady Leshurr set to rock the boat. The Streets’ leading man Mike Skinner will also grace the DJ decks. There’s plenty of superstar talent elsewhere as Zed Bias, Sherelle, DJ Die, Matt Jam Lamont, Dismantle, Crazy Cousinz and more promise to pepper the night’s festivities with healthy helpings of garage, jungle and bass.

Boomtown and Area 404 head honcho Lak Mitchell promises that Escape 404! is the project’s “biggest interactive experience so far”. The venue opened its doors over Halloween with four sold-out events and has since put on a double New Year party. April kicks off the Spring Series with Rise From The Underground on Friday, April 3.

Escape 404! will take place at Area 404 on Saturday, May 2 and Thursday, May 7 (Bank Holiday). To book and for more information, visit www.ticketfairy.com/tour/boomtown-area-404.
