Motion confirms reopening date

By Lowie Trevena  Friday Mar 5, 2021

Motion has announced that it will reopen its doors in April 2021.

The nightclub has been closed for large indoor events and has said that “after almost a whole year of waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel”, the venue is preparing to welcome clubbers back.

The team at Motion are preparing to reopen on Friday, April 16 for open air, seated events.

The club held similar events during summer 2020 but closed its doors again in November following Government restrictions.

“Everyone at Motion HQ has been working on a reopening plan for a while, and after the last government announcements, we are feeling more optimistic than ever,” say the team.

The St Philip’s nightclub has received a grant through the Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund and rescheduled its 2020 events to 2021.

Toolroom Bristol, featuring Danny Howard, Mark Knight, Leftwing & Kody and GW Harrison is planned for April 9 & 10, but the club is yet to announced what the April 16 reopening date will mean for this event.

Lowkey and Fatima Yamaha are also billed to perform at the Marble Factory and SWX, respectively, in early April. The live shows are organised by Motion, but no further details have yet been given.

The first event to be held at Motion post-reopening is Shall Not Fade. Kettama, Big Miz, Demuja and Black Loops will perform at the event on April 23 & 24.

Clubbers are encouraged to sign up to the summer mailing list to remain up to date with the venue’s reopening plans.
