Motion to expand their YARD: Open Air Club into a two-day festival

By Georgia Marsh  Wednesday Jan 29, 2020

Motion is amping up their annual alfresco party YARD: Open Air Party with their first-ever two-day summer kick-off. After three successful years, the team behind the superclub have decided to go bigger and better for their fourth instalment, transforming the all-day event into a mini-festival with some seriously impressive house and techno superstars from both local and global scenes to play across May’s first bank holiday weekend.

The festival will invite 6,000 dancers to revel in the springtime sunshine, getting festival season started across three unique stages on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th May (remember: this year, the Early May Bank Holiday falls on a Friday, not a Monday).

The Friday edition welcomes We Are The Brave boss and Drumcode mainstay Alan Fitzpatrick, Bristol talents Dense & Pika, a live show from KiNK, tech-house crackerjack Dennis Cruz among the stacked buildings. Life and Death founder and Running Back favourite DJ Tennis will also play a one-off five hour set in the Lock Yard.

Across the weekend, Motion’s lockyard will see extended sets from DJ Tennis and Dusky. Photo by Khris Cowley.

The following day, the evergreen man of the moment Denis Sulta promises to entertain. He’ll be joined in the Container Yard by Bristol-boy-cum-Dekmantel-darling Palms Trax and the enthralling Jennifer Cardini. Taking the party into overdrive, Chaos In The CBD, Eclair Fifi and Baba Stiltz will continue the chaos in the Crane Yard, with Dusky playing all-day on a stage that overlooks the Avon, making it perfect for sunset boogies.
