Nia Archives heading to Bristol for 2,700-person underground rave
Whatever your take on them, you can’t deny that Save Our Scene have certainly been making noise for the nightlife industry across the UK over the past year.
With 16 per cent of all live music spaces in the UK closing in 2023, they’ve been championing support for grassroots venues with parties in less than conventional spaces – and this weekend marks potentially their largest yet.
Up Ya Archives, the promotions joint of Nia Archives, a London based junglist whose meteoric rise through the ranks has seen her take pride of place at the top of the breakbeat food chain, has partnered with the grassroots advocacy group for a day of pop-ups and partying on Saturday in an undisclosed secret location.
is needed now More than ever
There will be sets from emerging Bristol DJs/collectives, established names in jungle/drum & bass, and of course the queen of jungle herself will be making various appearances.
The event – in collaboration with the Music Venue Trust, with all profits going to their grassroots fund – celebrates the release of Nia’s debut album, Silence is Loud, set for release the day before the party commences.
And it looks to be quite the celebration, with the day culminating at a hardly used, 2,700-capacity underground brutalist warehouse, which feels like the perfect setting for a massive jungle rave, powered by the mighty Scotland Yard Soundsystem and Riot Labs, a sustainable vape brand who have agreed to donate a percentage of their annual profits into the fund.
George Fleming, Save Our Scenes CEO and founder, called the putting on of an event of this scale with Nia Archives a “dream come true” and that the organisation is “so grateful to Nia for letting us amplify what we feel is such an important cause”
He also stressed the importance of raising awareness of one of the key purposes of the event – to “send a message to influential organisations within the sector that we must do more to protect and preserve the spaces which nurture and develop the artists and creatives of tomorrow,” as “once it goes, it’s not coming back”.
