Russell Howard swaps Hippodrome for Ashton Gate

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 28, 2021

Russell Howard is swapping the theatre for a stadium in order to be able to perform in Bristol in July.

It’s a step-up from his work-in-progress shows for his world tour, Respite, which saw the comedian gig in front of an audience sat on picnic tables at Lakota Gardens.

“I’m delighted to announce my Bristol gigs in July can still happen, but due to social distancing we’ve changed venues and I will now be playing Respite at Bristol City,” said Howard.

Ashton Gate Stadium to be precise, home to Bristol City and Bristol Bears (and soon also Bristol Flyers).

The stadium will host seven performances from July 5 to 10.
