Spencer Jones to headline Bristol Mind’s annual Blue Monday Comedy Night

By Sarski Anderson  Tuesday Jan 7, 2025

Timed to coincide with the so-called ‘most depressing day of the year’, Bristol Mind’s annual Blue Monday Comedy Night will be bringing the laughs while raising vital funds for the charity.

Returning to The Lantern Room at Bristol Beacon, the event welcomes comedian, podcaster, mental health and climate change speaker Stuart Goldsmith back to host, with madcap comic, actor, artist and general proponent of “prop-based tomfoolery”, Spencer Jones topping the bill.

They will be joined by a musical standup titan, Rob Deering, along with his legendary loop pedal and guitar, as well as the award-winning French comic Ceyla AB, and Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year finalist, Micky Overman.

Proceeds raised from the event will go towards a range of health and wellbeing services provided by Bristol Mind, from counselling, listening and emotional support, to refuge services, information, advocacy and specialist support for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

“The 20th January is the most depressing day of the year” attests Goldsmith, “and that’s not just marketing. That’s scientific FACT (don’t check!).

“Luckily we have four of the finest comedians in the land to steer us through it. And that’s not just a fact, it’s a GUARANTEE. (No money back).”
