The Grinch attempts to steal Easter at Avon Valley
On top of its many usual elements (from raptor encounters to a mini railway, pig racing and the ever-popular play barn), Avon Valley Adventure Park is hosting two weeks of Easter celebrations with some of the hallmarks of the season, alongside some wholly more unexpected twists.
Daily egg hunts across the Easter weekend will see visitors vying to get their hands on the Golden Egg, whereas an adults-only after dark hunt on March 30 will feature a quest to find 2,500 hidden eggs.
There is a heartwarming chance to meet some expectant mums and newborn lambs in the designated Maternity ‘Ewe-nit’, as well as watching some educational talks and feeding demonstrations with the park’s shepherds – with the very real possibility of some lucky visitors witnessing a live birth. We arrived minutes after the birth of twin lambs, and watched them taking their first, slightly wobbly steps.

The Easter Bunny makes a memorably high-energy appearance in the park’s inaugural Easter show, enjoyably dressed for a 90s rave.
And then, rather less predictably, comes The Grinch – who is evidently fed up of attempting to ruin Christmas and has his sights set on upsetting the spring celebrations instead.

Topping off the excitement, is the green-furred grump himself, rather resplendent in his blue velvet frock coat – firing no less than the UK’s first ever candy cannon.
The results are an explosive, thrilling and intensely sweet treat for the whole family.
The Easter EGGStravaganza is at Avon Valley from March 29-April 14 at 10.30am-5.30pm daily. For more information and tickets visit www.avonvalley.co.uk or follow @avonvalleypark.
