Shindig Festival announces last ever edition
The directors of Shindig Festival have announced that the 2024 event will be the last.
The festival returns on May 23 to 26 at to Dillington Estate, Somerset for four days of music, events and activities.
It was previously announced that the tenth anniversary special would be the last year the festival is held at Dillington Estate as the landowner’s future plans involve more farming than festivals.
is needed now More than ever
However, it has now announced the sad news that this year’s event will be the final edition.
The directors have said this down to the challenging landscape of the events industry, coupled with a trend of delayed ticket buying and the lack of Government support, it’s increasingly difficult for independent festivals to operate.
Many events are in a similar situation, and over 20 others have sadly cancelled or decided to call it a day this year alone.
Will Lardner, Shindig Productions says: “We would rather go out on our terms than have to compromise what we have created. We care too much about delivering the best parties we can and refuse to make major changes that don’t fit with our ethos just to continue.
“As sad as we are to announce the last ever Shindig Festival, let’s make it one to remember. We are throwing everything we have at it and going to make this the best weekend we have ever created. We owe that to everyone.”
Groove Armada (DJ Set), Brand New Heavies, Kurupt FM, Ewan McVicar, Congo Natty, Mad Professor, John Morales, DJ Rap and Greg Wilson, are on the bill.
The festival is going back to its roots – showcasing many of the artists who have played over the decade and helped to make the weekend what it is today: Shosh (24 hr Garage Girls), Greg Wilson, Altern 8, Odyssey, Gardna, Dub Pistols, The Cuban Brothers, Stanton Warriors and Dutty Moonshine.
This year’s comedy lineup features Reginald D. Hunter, Angelos Epithemiou, Olivia Lee and viral sensation Red Richardson.
Mojo Fell and Simon Clarke Co- Directors say: “It’s the people that come to our festivals that have made them so special. This is a call out to Shindiggers past and present – now is the time to get your tickets!
“Don’t miss the end – it will be the stuff of legends. We couldn’t have got this far without you.”
