Blue Moon Festival celebrates local filmmaking talent
Delivering a curated selection of locally made short films on Bristol’s biggest cinema screen followed by an exclusive harbourside afterparty, the Blue Moon film festival returns with another event showcasing independent filmmakers.
This year’s programme includes Jason Bailey’s Hippo, which is billed as a dark comedy unravelling the secrets of a dinner party on the anniversary of a tragic death; Ashley Porciuncula’s Mission Plan, written by VFX Artist Matthew Merkovich (Minority Report, The Amazing Spider-Man, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), which reimagines the events of WWII through a comedic modern lens; Merlin Goldman’s Tarn, a dystopian drama about an artist striving for freedom in a world where the air itself is deadly; Palestinian-Colombian filmmaker Sheryn Yidi’s A Sin De Fella Story, which promises a humorous and touching tale of perseverance in the cabaret world; Haleem Clift’s The School System, offering a critique of modern education; Ornella Hawthorn Gardez’s Slow-Down, a psychological drama based on a true story; a gritty slice of rural life in Nathan Powles’ The Gentleman Farmer; and an insight into the eccentric world of crazy golf in Hansel Rodrigues’ King Putt.

Following the screening on the Bristol Aquarium Megascreen, the afterparty includes a red carpet reception, music, refreshments, and an opportunity to engage directly with the filmmakers. The Blue Moon festival takes place on Friday 27 September at 6pm. Go here for tickets.
