Kraven the Hunter became the latest Marvel floperoo at the UK box office at the weekend, crawling into fifth place as the highest new entry against very little competition. Also not exactly setting the box office afire was Lord of the Rings animation The War of the Rohirrim, which opened just ahead of Daniel Craig’s abrupt change of direction in gay romance Queer. That left Moana 2 to enjoy its third week at the top as the pre-Christmas box office champ. The Disney sequel has just overtaken Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to become the eighth biggest hit of the year. Wicked is just behind it, punching through the £40m barrier to rank as the fourth highest-grossing film of 2024. And the awards-bound Conclave climbed a place to number six in its third week on release.
