There were no major new releases to boost takings this week, but UK cinemas are doing just fine with the big four films on general release. Moana 2 has notched up £20m after just two weeks, while Wicked has secured a place in the 2024 UK top five after three weeks. The highest new entry was Indian action sequel Pushpa 2, which secured fifth place with takings of more than £1m. This put it ahead of the latest event cinema concert by the self-styled ‘King of the Waltz’, Andre Rieu, who continues to put those boy bands to shame. His Christmas Concert drew enough mature punters to claim sixth place. And all that early Oscar talk is certainly benefitting Conclave, which recorded only a modest drop in takings over its second weekend on release.
