That’s another £10m in the kitty for Inside Out 2, still holding A Quiet Place: Day One at bay. The animated sequel is now officially the highest grossing film of 2024, and its relatively slight week-on-week decline in takings suggests this one will be with us for a while yet, though Despicable Me 4 is likely to give it a run for its money next week. The final part in Ti West’s horror trilogy starring Mia Goth, MaXXXine, was the highest new entry at number four, opening well ahead of the first two films. But the chart is so completely dominated by the top two releases that cinemas needn’t have bothered showing anything else as their takings are so low. Faring worst was Kevin Costner’s grand Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One, which disappeared from the top ten after just one week.
