John Krasinski’s family fantasy comedy IF (Imaginary Friends) seized the top spot at the weekend without quite coming up to industry expectations, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes held up strongly in its second week on release. If you thought it might be a little too early for a remake of a horror film made in 2008, think again. Home invasion flick The Strangers has been modishly ‘rebooted’ as a trilogy, with Renny Harlin (remember him) at the helm. The Strangers: Chapter 1 was the only other new release to make the top five. Of the remaining films on release, The Fall Guy and Challengers are continuing to do well at the UK box office, with fairly small declines in takings.
