Given all the hype, it comes as no surprise to find Gladiator II not only topping the chart but also giving its 86-year-old director Ridley Scott his career-best UK box office opening weekend. Paddington in Peru held up well in second place with a total nudging £20m, making it the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2024 after just two weeks on release. Further down the chart, Kiss Me, Kate: The Musical did very well to grab eighth place, given that this event cinema release was only on screen fro one day. Hong Kong drama The Last Dance is also doing remarkably well for a film with a very limited release.
