Bristol Film Festival hosts a series of screenings at atmospheric Bristol locations

By Miles Arnold  Wednesday Mar 2, 2022

As part of their 2022 Programme, Bristol Film Festival are hosting screenings of some of the best films of the last century at unique locations across the city.

Having already kicked off this year’s schedule with a double screening of Wall-E at We The Curious‘ planetarium back in February, amongst other classics, the BFF team are hitting the ground running as we enter the spring.

Take, for example, the 1927 German silent sci-fi classic Metropolis, directed by the renowned Fritz Lang. Imagine witnessing this picture in the ornate, elegant setting of Bristol Cathedral, accompanied by a live orchestra with award-winning composer David Bednall.

Or if 95-year-old German silent sci-fis aren’t really your bag, maybe fantasy is more your thing? The festival have managed to wrangle potentially one of the most atmospheric places in the city – the 600 or so year old Redcliffe Caves, for an eerie, yet mystical series of screenings of the fantasy/horror variety, including classics ranging from debut David Lynch flick Eraserhead all the way to Disney’s Aladdin.

There’s even an animatronic dinosaur waiting for you at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, who you’ll be able to hang out with before the screening of the classic Ben Stiller family movie Night at the Museum.

Ticket prices range from about a tenner for the family screenings, to upwards of £20 for the more decadent shows, many of which contain wine/gin tasting sessions that have been carefully curated to match the movie you’re watching.
