Bristol Pride calls for entries for Queer Vision’s 2024 South West Shorts
Now in its eleventh year, Queer Vision, Bristol Pride’s annual film festival, is firmly established as a key date in the LGBT+ calendar. This year’s festival runs from June 29-July 14 at the Watershed and other venues across Bristol. Submissions are now being sought for the South West Shorts programme of films that are created by LGBT+ filmmakers or have a specific focus on queer storytelling.
The overall winner will also become the south west region’s selection for the Best of British category and has a chance to win the Iris Prize: the world’s largest LGBT+ short film prize, with £30,000 for the winner to make their next LGBT+ short film plus a package of support, equipment, and crew from the prestigious Pinewood Studios Group. In addition, films from the Best of British shortlist will also be broadcast on Film4 and streamed on Channel 4 for one year.
To be eligible, all entries should be submitted by UK citizens or those who have been resident in the UK for at least three consecutive years prior to submitting their film. The areas covered by the competition are Bath & NE Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Southampton, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay and Wiltshire. Film submissions should be for, about, or of interest to LGBT+ audiences, and must have been completed since 1st June 2022, with a running time of 39 minutes or less. Full terms and conditions can be found on the Queer Vision website.
