Bristol University graduate scores eagerly anticipated new drama
Naqqash Khalid’s eagerly anticipated directorial debut, In Camera, is billed as a dreamlike modern fairytale in which a struggling twentysomething British-Asian actor (Nabhaan Rizwan) is ground down by rejection in a profession rife with prejudice and hypocrisy and sets out to create a role for himself.
“In Camera sees the filmmaker break with the norms of conventional filmmaking, creating a dialogue between the observer and the observed, making a satirical comment on contemporary race politics,” asserts the official blurb.
Of particular local interest is the film’s score by Bristol University graduate Christopher Stephen Clark, an electronic musician who goes by the mononym Clark and used to gig round here as Chris from St. Albans. In Camera is his second movie score after the psychological horror flick Daniel Isn’t Real. He also performs in the Lantern Hall at the Bristol Beacon on November 23.

Having been premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival last July, In Camera screens at the BFI London Film Festival on September 13, 15 and 17 and shows at the Watershed from September 13. Go here for tickets.
