Cables & Cameras’ Inspired event returns for its fourth annual edition
After three successful previous Watershed takeovers, Bristol’s Cables & Cameras returns on Saturday 15 June for another Inspired day of screenings and discussions celebrating the talents of homegrown filmmakers of colour. Inspired 24 features contributions from rising stars including the Williams brothers, AKA Mandem Collective, plus a conversation with award-winning writer, executive and creative director Karla Williams from MsMono production company.
The day kicks off with a Homegrown Journeys session, offering an opportunity to hear from BFI Network South West New Voices alumni Jojo Bossman and Shannon George, hosted by Euella Jackson, co-director of Rising Arts Agency.
New for 2024, Pitch Lab offers five emerging filmmakers the chance to pitch their projects to industry experts and receive insightful, constructive feedback in a supportive, peer-to-peer environment.

New Voices Filmmaker Showcase
This year’s annual New Voices Filmmaker Showcase features a selection of powerful short films from UK-based POC filmmakers, followed by a Q&A with Karla Williams, Producer of Ride and founder and creative director of Msmono, with host Junior Saunders.
Concluding Inspired 24 is a preview screening of Reel Talk – the new feature from the Williams brothers, which is billed as exploring “themes of friendship, life and the universe”. After the screening, Elias and Timon Williams will be joined by actor Scott Bayliss to talk about their film in a discussion hosted by Adam Murray of Bristol Black Horror Club.
