Familiar flock of sheep to star in BBC One Christmas idents
It has been revealed that Aardman Studios’ much-loved flock of sheep will feature in this year’s BBC One Christmas idents.
Shaun the Sheep’s charming escapades have already landed him in children’s television specials, a Netflix series and blockbuster movies, including Shaun the Sheep Movie and A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.
This year, Shaun and his herd of friends will remind audiences which channel they are watching in BBC One’s festive idents (short films in between programmes), as well as spreading some seasons bleatings.
is needed now More than ever
Acclaimed creators Aardman Studios have shot the idents using their distinctive stop-motion animation technique along with clay materials to bring their adored characters to life.
The ident’s storyline will focus on the search for Little Timmy by Shaun, who goes missing after a farmhouse raid at Mossy Bottom Farm.
The festive animations, which are made in partnership with BBC creative, will run alongside a 30 minute long Shaun the Sheep Special (Shaun The Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas).
Charlotte More, BBC’s chief content officer said: “Nothing brings audiences together like Christmas on the BBC, and the star of this years BBC Christmas idents is also at the heart of our festive family offer.”
Managing director of Aardman, Sean Clarke, echoed this, saying: “We hope together these new idents and the return of Shaun will bring extra cheer to families this Christmas.”
The idents will be broadcast from Saturday.
