Framed piece of ‘iconic’ carpet gifted to cinema superfan
The famous neon may be staying in the foyer of the Showcase cinema in Avonmeads but its “iconic” carpet is no more.
It was almost all too much for one of the multiplex’s biggest fans, the anonymous cinephile who is responsible for the brilliant Showcase Avonmemes Twitter account.
But in a twist worthy of the hundreds of Hollywood blockbusters that have been screened at the venue over the years, the person behind the memes has been presented with a framed piece of carpet.
is needed now More than ever
“Thank you to the staff at @ShowcaseCinemas Avonmeads for giving me a framed piece of the iconic carpet,” they wrote on Twitter / X while hiding their true identity.
They added: “I’ve loved going to Showcase Avonmeads for as long as I can remember. I was sad to see the old carpet go but I will make sure to give this piece a good home.
“I could post the picture of me without my disguise where you can see my big dumb grin but I find the secret identity thing too funny to give up now.
“Special thanks to Miles the manager today, Emily at Showcase HQ, and the GM who framed it (I didn’t get your name sorry).”
