Moulin Rouge spectacular comes to Clevedon
Secret Cinema‘s grand production of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge sold out for five months in London this summer, taking more than £4m. It also inspired those imaginative folks at Clevedon’s historic Curzon cinema. Teaming up with Heritage Open Days and Teatro Lounge, they’re mounting their own spectacular event this September. The entire cinema will be undergoing a one-night-only makeover aimed at whisking punters back to the seedy underworld of 1900 Montmartre for what is billed as a “thoroughly decadent experience”
“We thought it would be fabulous to put on an immersive event that will feel more like a party, turning the Curzon upside down and inside out, and above all celebrating the possibilities of our remarkable venue,” says Curzon General Manager Luke Doran.
is needed now More than ever
The bohemian fun kicks off before the screening, with cancan dancers, magicians, live music, ‘wicked cocktails’ and an absinthe bar. After Luhrmann’s jukebox musical, they’re promising “dancing, music and mischief well into the night as the absinthe continues to trickle.”
This event is bound to sell out quickly. So here’s what you need to know. It takes place on Saturday 9 September, with doors opening at 6.30pm. Early bird tickets go on sale at the Curzon cinema website from 2pm on Friday 4 August. General sales start at 6pm on Friday 11 August.
