Now you can hire your own screen at Showcase cinemas

By Robin Askew  Tuesday Nov 30, 2021

Cowering in Covid terror? Organising a kids’ Christmas party? Or are you just a common or garden misanthropist? Well there’s good news all round. As cinemas struggle to find new ways of filling seats, the Showcase chain has hit upon the idea of hiring out entire auditoria.

Excitingly, they’ve got acquired-taste comedian Keith Lemon to make the announcement. Hey – he was responsible for one of the worst films of 2012, after all.

Anyway, for as little as £140, you can now hire a screen at either of the chain’s two Bristol sites (Avonmeads and Cabot Circus) and fill it with your chums to watch the film of your choice. The small print reveals that certain films are excluded. Also, the £140 deal only applies from Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm and permits entry for 20 punters. Additional ones are charged £7 each. At 7pm Mon-Fri and 10am or 11am Sat & Sun, the hire fee rises to £210, although you can bring 30 mates.
