Artists from BIMM Bristol hosting intimate gigs
BIMM Institute, which has colleges across Europe, including in Bristol, has launched the BIMM Lockdown Sessions, in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Every Wednesday, students are playing music live from their living rooms, as part of the BIMM Lockdown Sessions on Facebook, an initiative started by a Bristol student.
Students from London, Manchester, Dublin, Bristol, Brighton, Birmingham, Hamburg and Berlin are holding intimate gigs, playing acoustic versions of old favourites and brand-new songs.

“These artists are among so many in the industry who have lost their income, gigs and plans for the summer due to the virus,” says songwriting student and student president at BIMM Institute Bristol, Anna Partridge.
The sessions are a way for students to expand their audiences. Acts from Bristol so far include MASS HOUSE UK, Bashema and Anna Anise.

“Connection with our fellow students and our communities is so important, not just for our creativity but also for our mental health,” Anna says. “When I found out we were going into isolation I wanted to take action to help keep a student culture.
“It took me a few days and lots of ideas, but I settled on the BIMM Lockdown Sessions as a way to give artists performance opportunities and have something exciting to look forward to.”
