BIMM Institute opens new building in the heart of Stokes Croft
The principal of BIMM says the organisation’s new state-of-the-art building means far more than just “bricks and mortar”.
BIMM Institute Bristol’s new campus opened last week with a launch party at the venue to introduce and display the new state-of-the art building.
The four-storey space offers a brand new multi-use learning and production space, live music venue, two recording studios, a DJ booth among other rooms and spaces for students to utilise.
is needed now More than ever
Since opening in 2008, BIMM Bristol has grown exponentially. St James’ House, the new building, will replace their Passage Street location and it’s proximity to BIMM King Square aims to ensure the college’s presence in the area.
The principal, Hannah Phipps, worked closely with the design and construction team, Studio People, to deliver a new vision of the institute which puts the student, staff and local community at the centre of the design.
Hannah Phipps, BIMM Bristol Principal, said: “This project means more to us than just bricks and mortar. BIMM Moon Street is not only deigned for learning, but also engineered for sound, joy, creativity and connection. Our design and construction team, the Studio People, listened to our brief and exceeded our expectations.
“We are particularly excited about our industry standard recording studios, our green screen studio and the dazzling atrium performance venue.
“These resources have the potential to open doors to new industry opportunities for our students, and the wider community too. We’re very proud of our new home and look forward to a great year ahead making lots of noise!”
BIMM Bristol kicked things off with a launch party for attendees to experience the new building along with live performances from students including DJs Insidia and Solstice, El Knight, The New Cut and Mercy’s Cartel rounding things off.
