Brisfest Soundscape highlights, part 2
On Saturday, July 30 Brisfest returns in a brand new, multi-venue format.
We’re particularly excited here at Bristol24/7 because this year we’re programming the main stage. Unfolding outside (and later inside) The Station, our ‘Best of Bristol’ lineup represents the past, present and future of the city’s underground music scene from indie rock to hip-hop, electronica and bass music.
Each day this week we’ll be picking out a few of the bands, DJs and solo artists from our stages and beyond.
The Scribes
We’re really excited to have booked this lot playing our stage. Their latest album Mr Teatime and the End of the World is one of the most imaginative hip-hop records the UK’s produced in a while, and their adrenalin-fuelled live shows knock it out of the park every time.
October
Jules Smith’s smoky take on house and techno has seen him play Fabric and Panoramabar as well as internationally admired labels like Skudge and Aus Music. His 2016 album Black Body Radiation brings ’80s industrial and EBM influences into the mix, with suitably punishing results.
She Makes War
Laura Kidd is the multi-instrumentalist talent behind hard-gigging art pop phenomenon She Makes War. Feeding on indie, folk and gothic rock, she’s built a unique sound world and has the passionate cult following to match.
