Bristol Refugee Festival announce new fundraiser gig
Bristol Refugee Festival CIC coordinates a year round programme of arts, cultural and educational events with a cross art-form festival at its core.
The programme aims to promote the diversity and talent that refugees and asylum seekers contribute to Bristol, and brings communities together, to celebrate the impact of refugees in the city.
Bristol Refugee Festival have announced a fundraiser gig at Strange Brew on February 16 with any profits made from the show going back into the CIC so they can continue supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
is needed now More than ever
Ethno-sampling mavericks Addictive TV bring their global music project Orchestra of Samples to Bristol with special guest, Alphonse Daudet Touna.
The acclaimed live performance is a unique musical journey without borders, taking in Senegal, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Colombia, Brazil, India and many more.
Support act will be the Bristol Griot, made up of the duo master-kora player Moussa Kouyate and David Mowat on the trumpet.
Sam O’Sullivan, admin and events at Bristol Refugee Festival said: “We are so pleased to be able to put on this fundraiser gig, now! As we start to plan the 2024 Festival Programme (June 8 – 23), we remember how important it is to spend time breaking down barriers and experiencing joy in each other’s cultures and music.
“Finding ways for everyone to share their cultures and skills is key. When we welcome and connect, we form stronger and happier communities.”
