Bristol24/7 is on the lookout for a new Music Editor
Bristol24/7 is seeking a motivated, music-loving journalist to join our small editorial team in a part-time, freelance role as Music Editor.
From interviewing unknown artists to rising stars, reporting on the latest gigs, festivals and events to lifting the lid on different genres, this is a rare opportunity to be at the beating heart of the city’s diverse music scene.
Bristol24/7 is the biggest independent publication in the South West, with unrivalled coverage of local news, culture and entertainment. We are also a community interest company and were named one of the top 100 social enterprises in the country this year as part of the NatWest SE100. Our content is read by hundreds of thousands of people – an audience that’s growing all the time. Advertising and membership support our independent journalism and fund community projects that change lives.

The ideal candidate will eat, sleep and breathe Bristol’s music scene. They will be enthusiastic and full of ideas, have great writing skills and an eye for a story.
Managing a team of reviewers, taking photos and creating video content will all play a key part of the Music Editor role. The chosen candidate will need to be able to juggle a busy workload, have a meticulous eye for detail and meet tight deadlines. They will also contribute features to Bristol24/7’s bi-monthly magazine.
The role will initially be for 1.5 days a week on a rate of £90 per day.

Essential qualities:
- Excellent writing skills
- A passion for and knowledge of Bristol’s music scene
- Ability to look after your own workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude
Desirable qualities:
- Experience of creating video
- Portfolio of published work
