Bristol24/7 to host all-day music show at the Fleece

By Meg Houghton-Gilmour  Thursday Apr 4, 2024

Bristol24/7 will take over the Fleece on April 28 for an all-dayer to celebrate our 10th birthday. We’re putting on some of the city’s finest live acts from hip-hop to hyper pop, afrobeat, rock and jazz, all of whom have made their mark on the Bristol music scene in the last decade.

After her stunning performance with Ishmael Ensemble at our magazine launch party at Ashton Court Mansion last year we’re excited to have Holysseus Fly performing her incredible solo show. Holly’s latest release Out Of This World is already getting rave reviews and airtime on BBC Radio 6 Music following her recent tour with Nick Mulvey.

Seven piece ‘dance floor instrumentalists’ Snazzback bring a lively, improvised style spanning a range of genres including jazz, hip hop and afrobeat. Their launch show at Strange Brew for the release of Ruins Everything with Grove last year was sold out before they headed off on tour. We’re glad to have them back in Bristol for this one!

Since the release of their debut EP Scribbled Thoughts in 2011 Split Prophets have had a large and dedicated following in the city and far beyond. They’ve had regular releases ever since and supported hip-hop royalty including the Wu-Tang Clan and MF Doom. We’ve got the whole crew coming down for this one including Res One, Datkid, Upfront, Bil Next, Bew Bonik and Badhabitz.

There’ll be more progressive, leftfield hip-hop from St Pauls wordsmith Wish Master. Performing alongside DJ Billy Whizz, you can check out his latest releases here.

Alternative pop breakthrough artist Tlya X An released her debut EP last year and has followed it up with some eye-catching live shows, including at this year’s Simple Things Festival. Expect an electric performance from an artist who is surely destined for big things.

Named after Nirvana’s 1993 track Oh, The Guilt, this queer grunge / post-punk trio are known for their explosive live shows and dramatic songwriting. They describe their sound as ‘dream punk’ and released their debut album Deadnames & Deed Polls last month with a headline show at Rough Trade.

Last but definitely not least, Tianna is a rising star of the city’s music scene. Released in 2023, her debut EP Morning Conversations grabbed our attention with its blend of neo-soul, R&B and hip-hop. She’s local music royalty too – her father is Dennison Joseph of Bristol reggae greats Talisman. Check out a recent interview with our very own Issy Packer.
