Cotham Club: The new monthly events put community at the forefront
Cotham Club is a monthly music night held at Cotham Parish Church.
The space has seen several iterations, the grade 2* listed building is located on the site of the old city wall and is the place people were brought to be hanged.
In the 1600s, five Protestant martyrs were burnt at the stake at the site.
is needed now More than ever
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, Cotham Parish Church completed a community survey and it was decided that the team would use the space for a monthly global music night.
The first gig was held in April 2022 and since then, there have been 18 gigs in total – one a month with the exception of August.
From May to October, the church has been under construction and so the events have taken place in the church hall. The location offers a fully accessible space for attendees as well as a stocked bar.
The community-focused gigs have welcomed an array of global musicians, from African jazz to Cuban salsa, curated by David Mowat and run by a team of volunteers.

The monthly events welcome gig-goers of all ages, genders, neurotypes and ethnicities.
In keeping with their community focused pledge, Cotham Club offers concession tickets for £5 and hope to offer taxis to asylum seekers currently staying in hotels so they can join too.
The next event will welcome RSVP Bhangra on November 24 and will be held in the newly refurbished church venue.
Tickets are on sale now at https://hdfst.uk/e91022
