Dot to Dot drops first wave lineup for 2025

By Ursula Billington  Friday Nov 22, 2024

The eclectic day festival is back to take its 20th annual pilgrimage from the south west to the east midlands.

Dot to Dot has brought fresh indie and experimental sounds to the city since 2005, landing in Bristol for one day of the weekend before departing to Nottingham to run the whole show again.

It’s a ‘save the date’ situation for music fans keen to catch their favourite underground artists or discover the next big thing.

The 2024 edition, which featured Panic Shack, Antony Szmierek, Jockstrap and Bug Club alongside local outfits including Hamburger, Knives, The Clangers and Trans-Siberian Express, was nominated for Best Metropolitan Festival – the prize it took home from the UK Festival Awards in 2023.

Next year, heading up the bill of artists taking over venues across the city are The Horrors, Fat Dog, Sprints and Kate Bollinger.

Eclectic heartfelt-punk duo Big Special join the lineup following a year of critically acclaimed shows that have swelled their fan base, while London trio Honeyglaze return to the city following well sold out shows at Rough Trade and The Exchange in 2024.

Barry Can’t Swim collaborator Låpsley and hip hop influenced garage/house artist nimino will also be among the mammoth programme of acts performing throughout May 24 at Dareshack, Exchange, The Fleece, The Lanes, The Louisiana, Mr Wolfs, O2 Academy, Rough Trade, Strange Brew, SWX and Thekla.

Emerging acts include garage-punk trio Adore, BBC Introducing-feature Baobei, Manchester-based loudmouths Bruise Control, Hello Mary – hailing from NYC – and folk-shoegaze outfit Ladylike.

Public Order trip over the border from Wales, while White Flowers bring dream-pop and industrial electronica down from the north of England and Switzerland collective Soft Loft will have even further to travel to join the festivities.

For alternative music lovers, it’s arguably the busiest and most life-affirming day of the year. Explore the full first wave lineup and bag your ticket at www.dottodotfestival.co.uk
