Elles Bailey launches new EP with Bristol gig
She’s been in the studio for months, with producer Brian Banks (who’s previously worked with Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie) and now Bristol singer/songwriter Elles Bailey is ready to release her EP, Who Am I To Me, on February 23.
The album launch gig takes place at the Coronation Tap in Bristol on January 29 and she is currently touring the UK and Germany with it. The record, as well as featuring a band of talented Bristol musicians, also features the hugely talented Spencer Ludwig, of Capital Cities, on trumpet on the second track ‘Heart go Oooh’. He’s recently finished a tour with Katy Perry.
Bailey hasn’t been dubbed a ‘Blues Princess’ for no reason. Her voice has been described as the love child of Etta James and Janice Joplin. Its unique husky tone that sounds like she drinks Jack Daniels from the bottle and smokes 60 a day was caused by a serious illness when she was three and her throat almost closed up.
To save her life the surgeons had to place a tube in her throat for seventeen days to allow her to breathe, affecting her voice giving it a real bluesy tone that is getting her recognition wherever she sings. Look out for her at a venue near you!
