Fundraiser music weekender to take place at Sparks

By Issy Packer  Tuesday Mar 19, 2024

Frameshifter II Music Weekender is a fundraising event hosted by Free Severn Sound, an arts collective dedicated to creating and developing original music to raise money for No Small Thing and the Sparks Repairium.

Taking place on March 22 and 23, the two day event promises a programme full of live music.

Kicking things off on Friday evening will be Jamie Broughton as well as performances from Katt Strike, Cloroplast and Flamenco Loco.

Saturday will see an even longer day of music, beginning at 1pm, singer-songwriter Boci will take to the stage, followed by performances by Tango Menagerie, Seven Goats featuring Kap’n Stranger & The Whispering Prawns, Michaela Fedeczko Band, Silky Disturbance, Rosalind Moreno-Parra Band and Fabio Ferri Quintet will close the event.

The Sparks Repairium is part of the international Repair Café movement, held at Sparks Bristol every Sunday of each month.

The repair café exists to promote repairing and recycling of household goods, to foster an appreciation of ‘making good’ in a disposable world, repairing to restore functionality.

Vegan food will be available on March 23 and all unsold food will be donated to homeless people in collaboration with St Mungo‘s; a group of volunteers helping Bristol’s homeless.

Marianna Moralis, coordinator for Free Severn Sound and the Frameshifter Festival, said: “Festivals such as Frameshifter play an important part in supporting new music, and giving it a chance to reach a wider audience.

“It’s thrilling to help musicians explore interdisciplinary ideas, creative curiosity and brave artistic choices, and showcase bands/projects/music that are experimental, enquiring, and ambitious.

“Both veteran musicians and emerging artists are encouraged to have fun in a way that spills beyond genre considerations.”
