Help get Big Jeff to Texas

By Amy Grace  Thursday Jan 30, 2020

For the past two decades, music hero Big Jeff has been heading to gigs and amassing an extensive knowledge of the music scene in Bristol and beyond.

He has now been invited to speak at the prestigious South by South West (SXSW) music festival taking place in Texas in March.

And in order to get there, a fundraiser has been set up in order to fly Jeff to the festival.

SXSW would like Jeff to be involved in a panel discussion about diversity in live music, which could see Jeff discuss his experiences and speaking about his own issues.

“I am very open about my personal mental health issues, learning disabilities and anxiety, but I’m someone who is driven by passions for being creative and for live music,” Jeff said.

“Being given the opportunity to travel and speak more openly and  publicly will not only help build my confidence but also build my profile and help me be seen as a spokesperson for people with similar feelings.”

He added: “This experience would allow me to grow my personal and professional skills &, by publishing my experiences on the Independent Venue Week channels, I can demonstrate to other gig goers like me, that music and art can help with their personal development.”
