Idles announce headline homecoming show
Bristol favourites Idles have announced that they are headlining an outdoor concert on the Downs.
The one-off gig will be Idles’ first outdoor headline show and will be one of the band’s first live, in-person performances since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
The gig, which takes place on Friday, September 3, will have a capacity of 10,000 people and will feature a host of soon-to-be announced acts.
is needed now More than ever
“It’s an amazing feeling to announce the Idles homecoming show for September this year,” says Dave Harvey, part of Team Love and Simple Things, the organisers of the show.
“There simply isn’t a venue in Bristol now who can hold all the people that would want to see them, so we found an outdoor venue instead!”
Idles’ 2020 release, Ultra Mono, was their first UK number one and the fasted selling vinyl release of the year. However, the band’s sold-out tour had to be pushed back to 2022, so the band haven’t yet performed any of the songs at an in-person live gig.
Team Love and Simple Things promise that the concert on Friday, September 3 will be “a whole day of amazing music, food, drink”. Tickets will go on sale at 9am on April 1.
“It feels all the more important to put on a show with them now, we really feel like this is the light at the end of the tunnel for all of us, to be able to be back standing in the audience watching one of Bristol’s best bands play their number one album live for one of the very first times in front of their hometown fans,” Dave adds.
“It’s going to feel really special.”
