Kings of Leon to play Ashton Gate

By Ellie Pipe  Friday Feb 23, 2024

Kings of Leon are making a return to Bristol after more than 20 years with a headline gig at Ashton Gate.

The multi award-winning alternative rock veterans from Nashville will be playing at the home of Bristol City and Bristol Bears on Friday, June 23 as part of their Can We Please Have Fun world tour.

The gig promises to feature some of the band’s extensive back catalogue and will take place the day after the inaugural Ashton Gate Presents BS3 show, which will see Craig David, Ne-Yo, Jess Glynne and DJ Spoony perform.

Tickets for the Kings of Leon gig will go on sale on Friday, March 1 ahead of their ninth full-length studio album, Can We Please Have Fun, which will be released on May 10 via Polydor Records.

Jenny Hutchinson, venue director at Ashton Gate Stadium, said: “We are incredibly proud to welcome Kings of Leon, one of the world’s biggest alternative rock bands, to Ashton Gate this summer. It’s been more than 20 years since the band last performed in Bristol and we can’t wait to see them rock Ashton Gate with their incredible back catalogue in June.

“Ashton Gate has already hosted world-renowned rock bands in recent years and this announcement is another example of our ambition to bring the biggest artists to Bristol. Kings of Leon promises to be another memorable night at the stadium.”

Since their debut in 2003, Kings of Leon – brothers Caleb (guitar/vocals), Nathan (drums) and Jared Followill (bass), and their cousin Matthew Followill (guitar) – have sold more than 20m albums and nearly 40m singles worldwide.

The band have three Grammy Awards, three NME Awards, two BRIT Awards, and one Juno Award.

Fans can pre-order the new album on Tuesday, February 27 before 5pm for exclusive access to the tour pre-sale on Wednesday, February 28 at 9am. Pre-order via: uk.kingsofleonshop.com/
