Last Resort club night launches in Bristol

By Laura Williams  Thursday Nov 6, 2014

One of the capital city’s most popular alternative clubnights, Last Resort, arrives at Bristol’s Exchange on December 20.

The free entry night has a hoard of celebrity fans (see image above) and until now has remained rooted in London – save for some banging festival sets at Download (see video below), Reading Festival and Hevy Festival. But Bristol is soon to benefit from an exciting new partnership with one of the city’s newer venues.

With regular in house DJs from the industry playing metal, rock and alternative bangers the night has also played host to special guests including Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter, Kerrang! Magazine editor James McMahon and Metal Hammer’s Amit and Merl to name a few.

The nights often involve merch giveaways and charity drives and collections, which have raised thousands for various good causes. “We run Last Resort for the love of the music, not for profit,” said promoter Adam Brooks.

He added: “A bride and groom once came straight from their ceremony. Somebody called us the morning after an event to see if anyone had handed in their tooth. Attendees posting before and after shots of their shoes has become ‘a thing’. People regularly spend hours travelling from the far reaches of the UK just to be there. It’s that kind of night.”

Last Resort Bristol launches on Saturday Dec 20th at The Exchange, from 10.30pm – 3am. As with the London edition, it’s free entry, drinks deals, giveaways, confetti cannons and a night of alternative bangers – from Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy and Biffy Clyro to Weezer, Taylor Swift and Will Smith.  It then continues on the second Saturday of every other month in 2015, starting on Valentine’s Day.
