Legends of alternative cabaret – The Tiger Lillies end their UK tour in Bristol
Founded in 1989 by Martyn Jacques, London-based worldwide cabaret stars The Tiger Lillies have an inimitable “anarchic Brechtian street opera” style that mashes together punk and Romany Gypsy music with the theatrical underground of pre-war Berlin.
Across the world, they have won acclaim as well as notoriety for their signature blend of darkness, cruelty, beauty and sadness.
They have evolved through several lineups, earning their status as “Godfathers of alternative cabaret” and counting Marc Almond, Matt Groening, Alex Kapranos and Devo among their fans.

The three-piece (Jacques, Adrian Stout and Budi Butenop) won two Olivier Awards for the cult hit musical, Shockheaded Peter, as well as earning a Grammy nomination for their 2003 album The Gorey End.
Hot off the back of a European tour, the band is currently playing a number of UK dates, visiting The Redgrave Theatre on June 10 before moving on to Germany and Ukraine.
