Longest Johns take to the docks in a duck boat to launch new album
With music fit for land and sea, what better way was there for the Longest Johns to launch their new album in their home city than on board a vehicle also suited for both amphibious and ground-based travel?
What started as a joke became reality for the Bristol band on Sunday as they travelled on a duck boat along the Floating Harbour and then on the roads to their gig at Rough Trade.
With a cardboard cut-out of self-isolating band member Robbie Sattin in tow, the rest of the global sea shanty sensations performed songs from newly released album Smoke & Oakum, their first since signing with Decca Records.

“We absolutely love the thrill of arriving at our hometown show in, quite literally, the most Longest Johns vehicle we could find,” said the three-quarters of the band who took the journey on the duck boat: Andy Yates, Dave Robinson and Jonathan Darley.
“Erupting out of the River Avon to celebrate our album launch feels as surreal as when we first went viral. It is special to bring it back home, to where it all began!”
