Mothers in Music announce debut event with all-day showcase

By Issy Packer  Tuesday Feb 20, 2024

A group of musician mothers are producing an all-dayer of music and discussion on March 7 at The Mount Without.

Hosted by Mama Coaching, chaired by Alice Ballantine Dykes, the event will shine a spotlight on some of the challenges women face in the music industry when they become mothers and present some of the solutions that would make a different version of  success possible.

“It’s really important that the discussion is opened up to everyone in the music world,” Alice tells Bristol24/7.

The Mothers in Music event will showcase the many talented women in the Mothers in Music network while DJs Natalie Littleton and Sarah Hulme will also be in attendance for a pre-evening networking gathering.

The daytime lineup runs from 12pm to 5:30pm and includes Bring Your Own Baby Choir, Jenny Lindfors (Sailing Stones), J*M*A, Rita Lynch, Beth Rowley.

This will be followed by a social with DJ sets by The Black Astral and Queen of Pressure before the evening lineup running from 7pm to 11pm featuring extracts from Orchard Street by Emma Butterworth, Rioghnach Connolly and Rachael Dadd.

There are limited free tickets for children under 14 and there will be some child friendly quiet activities throughout the event as well.

“There is such a disparity between what’s possible for a man what’s possible for a woman, particularly mothers,” Alice tells us.

“We hope to show what a different version of success looks like for mothers.”

Tickets for the event are on sale now at https://hdfst.uk/e102204
