Music & Clubs Picks, December 5 – 11

By Adam Burrows  Monday Dec 5, 2016

Monday: Yola Carter, Wardrobe Theatre
In a previous life Yola sang with Massive Attack and Pinch, and made her name as a performer as the frontwoman of Phantom Limb. Now fully embracing her passion for American roots music the Bristol singer’s emergence as a solo artist is a joy to behold. She’s even making waves in Nashville.

Thursday: Kate Tempest, O2 Academy
From plays, to novels, to poetry and music, everything the South Londoner turns her hand to is a success. Surely a contender for voice of her generation, Tempest’s heartfelt lyrics touch on themes of drugs, poverty and disillusionment over twisted hip-hop beats.
