Music showcase will platform next-gen talent
An “enchanting evening for true music enthusiasts” is coming to a stunning setting.
The latest iteration of the Seedling Sessions, a showcase of emerging musicians dreamt up by hip hop artist MĀDŁY, will feature improvised jazz-electronica, funky alt-pop and a Lithuanian harpist.
They’ll come together in Trinity’s dramatic Fyfe Hall, with historic architectural features and floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows, to experiment, hone skills and connect with audiences.

MĀDŁY – who performs with her own band and alongside other vocalists in hip hop collective JAMU as well as co-hosting the Sunday night Family Business jams at the Gallimaufry, said she saw a need for a stepping stone for artists new to the scene.

“I created Seedling Sessions back in 2016 after a year of living in Bristol, and being mind blown by the number of talented musicians that were struggling to get gigs due to a lack of content, a set too short, or lack of contacts to access the stages,” she told Bristol24/7.
“I thought I would create a multi line up show to offer a space for artists to practice in front of an attentive crowd, and provide them with some pictures and videos of their set when possible, as a stepstone to access [further shows].”
The sessions have been welcomed by musicians and have helped to kickstart careers including that of Holysseus Fly, the acclaimed voice of Ishmael Ensemble who has gone on to make a success with solo work that has been championed by BBC 6 Music and DJ Lauren Laverne, among others.
“Seedling Sessions is a wonderful and welcoming night for exciting emerging artists to take up space in the city,” said Holly.
“I felt so encouraged and comfortable playing Seedling back in 2018 when I was only just stepping out as a solo artist, I really feel this night is so important for Bristol! Run by MĀDŁY who is an absolute legend, everyone should come and support, discover and meet new music here”

“My first solo gig in Bristol was with Seedling Sessions, and one I will never forget,” said Brook Tate, a musician and painter who performed at one of the first sessions which took place in the Gallimaufry.
“I was brand new in the city and had little experience performing my original music. MĀDŁY has created, and sustained, a truly beautiful space which makes artists feel supported and heard.
“My Seedling Sessions gig gave me so much confidence to go out and find more opportunities to share my music and develop as a creator.”
Taking place on September 24, this latest session will feature Experiment x O.B., blending ‘jazz legends and nu-school torchbearers’ to deliver improvised music with elements of jazz, neo-soul, rock and electronica with Solomon O.B.’s spoken word.
Jausmė, who took part in 2022’s Lithuanian X Factor, will explore themes of love, grief, and nature in vocal and cinematic soundscapes,df accompanied by her country’s traditional harp-like instrument the kanklės, or Baltic psaltery.
And Immy will present her refreshing summery blend of funk-soul-jazz fusion.
