NGAIO launches new single with performance for #SundayConcerts4Assange

By Issy Packer  Tuesday Mar 19, 2024

Who We Are is NGAIO‘s first single since her 2022 EP We Fly Remixes.

With appearances on tracks by CURTISSS and Kamerum since then, Who We Are is the first solo single from the singer, DJ and artist.

The track explores identity, cultural heritage, and the challenges of authentic expression and delves into themes of authenticity, vulnerability, and the struggle to communicate one’s perspective without facing backlash or defensiveness.

NGAIO draws on her own experiences and cultural influences, weaving together references to West Africa, South America, Jamaica, and Bristol’s underground music scene to create a personal and vulnerable track with her trademark vocals and sound.

The singer debuted the track as part of the Sunday Concerts for Assange series, a weekly series featuring musical performances dedicated to the freedom of imprisoned publisher Julian Assange.

Premiering concerts from musicians around the world, previous musicians who have taken part include Alabama 3, David Rovics, Siobhan O’Brien and Peter Conway.

Who We Are will be available from all majory streaming platforms on March 28 and can pre-save the single at https://ngaio.ffm.to/whoweare
