Noods Levels CIC to hold industry event for young creatives
After receiving funding from Bristol City Council Organisations, Noods Levels CIC will be holding their first industry event with some big names in attendance from the creative industry. It’s an ambitious idea which Izzy’s well aware of; “I think even though we’ve been really ambitious this is something we really wanted to do to show people what we’re capable of.”
Powered by the Bristol City Council Cultural Investment Programme, Dr Martens & Vita Coco Infused Drinks, CrossTalk will feature some big names and an even bigger venue with the space being able to hold 216 people for each talk. It’s certainly ambitious but Izzy insists that it’s “not a money making exercise; we want people to go away from this event and believe that they can start a radio station, that they can definitely work with this person and have got the skills to get into music or film.”
is needed now More than ever
Guest speakers include the award-winning film composition writer and producer Geoff Barrow, videography who has worked with Skepta and Wretch-32 Ashleigh Jadee and No Signal Radio, pioneers in diverse radio DJs. It’s definitely a line-up of love with Izzy explaining how happy she is with the people they got on board; “I’m pinching myself that we got them like that. That is amazing. I think you should always want to book people that you want to see yourself.”
The event also aims to help those from lower socio-economic backgrounds with Noods Levels CIC partnering up with youth centres and music colleges, such as ACE, Trinity, BIMM and DBS who put forward 30 young people to attend the workshops. “The hope is that whilst we’re obviously aiming to inspire people through the talks, we’ve actually got this cohort people who are going to have something to add to their CV,” Izzy tells us.
CrossTalk aims to inspire the young creatives in Bristol. Not only to inspire them into believing that they can break into such a challenging industry but also into staying in such a vibrant city as Bristol. “We want to inspire that next generation of people upon radio we want, we want people to come to us in 10 years and have access to job opportunities. If we don’t keep people in Bristol, we’re going to only hinder the city’s growth overall. So we need to make sure that we give back to people and hope that they can stay in the city,” Izzy tells us.

How will they know they succeeded in their mission to inspire? “If people come to us at the end and say that it went well and it not only inspired them but also got them thinking then I think we’ve done our job.”
